Prince is dead RIP

I'm really horrified by the death of Prince.

I was at home when I heard the news otherwise I would have been able to do this post earlier. But, another music legend gone in 2016. It makes me so sad to think that a generation of kids are growing up with the processed sound of music like Beyonce or Justin Beiber without access to musicians like this.

The change in the music industry to supporting music like this is why musicians don't have a chance now. It's all about selling the image and the person, not the musical abilities.  There are so many talented bands and musicians who can't get past that barrier because people like Little Mix can be processed and sold.

Prince was again, one of those musicians whose style transcended gender barriers. He wore suits but then also really really really small pants repeatedly. His clothing was amazing. I got into Prince when I was in art college and my ex boyfriend was a fan. He introduced me to Purple Rain, Raspberry Beret among many others.  I always associate Prince with art college for that reason. Exactly the same with The Pixies, Bob Dylan and Grandmaster Flash.

Surely we cannot experience anymore deaths right!? Well....I think there is worse to come. What we are seeing now is the first generation of created celebrities to reach old age.  Granted, Prince was 57 and we don't know what caused his death which is unusual. However, 57 year old men do not shrug off illness as easily as younger men. Same with David Bowie, he was ill with cancer and in his sixties. He is the first of a generation of celebrities created in the 1960s to be in the public eye to pass away. Now, we cannot escape the death notices because of social media announcements.
Doesn't make it any easier considering it's April and we've had a lot of death so far.....
