She's had a distinguished film and television career ever since she thrilled critics and audiences as a troubled teenager in Thirteen.
On Sunday, Evan Rachel Wood struck back at a (CAUTION NSFW LINK) Vogue Italia article originally published in 2012 that criticized both her body and her choice to do a topless photo shoot for another publication.
The 31-year-old Westworld star took to Twitter, where she said the article made her feel 'worthless' and tried to take her 'down a few pegs.'
Making herself heard: On Sunday, Evan Rachel Wood, 31, struck back at a Vogue Italia article originally published in 2012 that criticized both her body and her choice to do a topless photo shoot for another publication; shown in 2018
The article in question, written by Giulia Blasi, was in response to a photo set published in Flaunt Magazine.
The stylish set included a racy photo of Evan completely topless and only wearing a pair of white shorts, which she tugged at with one hand.
Her face is obscured in the image by a glass of wine, though her smoky eyes give the camera a sultry glance.
Her blonde tresses were cut short and stylishly mussed.

'So, I decided to do a "throwback" photo rollout on instagram and while looking up old photos of mine, I stumbled across this. A familiar feeling washed over me. This feeling of worthlessness. Then I remembered its all a lie,' tweed the True Blood actress.
'I posed topless for an @ellenvonunwerth photoshoot and "Giulia Blasi" at #Vogue, no less, decided to take me down a few pegs. Look at the narratives that are assigned to women. Look at the way we make their looks their value or what makes them "interesting."'
'Look at how they judge my life at 18 years old without giving a second thought as to what my situation might have been, look at the way they assume my posing was 4 them, to make them like me, instead of me just living my best life with 1 of my favorite photographers-'
'And not giving a damn what anyone thought about my body. It just makes me really sad, thats all. That this is the respect we give women in the industry,' she concluded.
Hurt feelings: The Westworld actress lambasted the publication for judging and objectifying her in the article
Disrespectful: She saw the post as indicative of how the entertainment industry treats women
The Vogue Italia article opens by stating that the Across The Universe actress had posed topless 'and it's... okay.'
The author went on to praise Evan's looks, including her 'fine features' and 'milky skin,' before writing: 'She is flawless. Maybe too much so.'
Blasi continued by listing actress she judged to have flawed features, mention Meryl Streep's 'long thin nose,' Bette Davis' 'slightly protruding eyes,' Julianne Moore's 'Freckles,' and legendary Italian actress Anna Magnani's 'undereye circles.'
According to her, Evan didn't belong among those screen giants because she was too attractive and 'without ... sophistication.'
Too pretty? Author Giulia Blasi said Evan didn't rank among classic actresses because she was too attractive and 'without ... sophistication.' She also blamed the actress for her relationship with the much older Marilyn Manson, who escaped unscathed; pictured in September
Blasi also criticized the actress' relationship with the much older singer Marilyn Manson, though she blamed Evan for the relationship rather than her more mature boyfriend.
'Five years on ... what she still seems to lack is that crucial imperfection that makes people interesting. And posing nude will not give her that,' ended the article.
Evan has been notably vocal about the treatment of women in the entertainment industry.
In 2016, she told a reporter for Rolling Stone that she had been raped twice amid her publicity tour for Westworld.
She's also been a visible advocate for the #MeToo movement.
Last month, she was beset by trolls and overly angry Stranger Things stars after she advised her followers not to date anyone like David Harbour's police chief Jim Hopper from the Netflix series because of his toxic masculinity.

The racy image of her that inspired the catty article was taken by celebrated German photographer Ellen von Unwerth.
The former model is best known for her sultry photos of models and female celebrities.
Though her images acknowledge the presence of desire, women retain agency and power.
'The women in my pictures are always strong, even if they are also sexy. My women always look self-assured,' she said in a 2018 Harper's Bazaar interview.
'I try to make them look as beautiful as they can because every woman wants to feel beautiful, sexy and powerful. That’s what I try to do.'
