Many people were skeptical about the Nick Cannon possibly playing legend Richard Pryor. That included Richard Pryor Jr., but it looks like he's had a change of heart. Pryor Jr. told Page Six that he's come around to the idea of Cannon playing his father in the upcoming Lee Daniels flick. Within weeks, his skepticism turned into excitement. Cannon has said he has been taking the steps to prepare for the role, but the appearance isn't confirmed.
"I am actually very excited about it now," Pryor Jr. said. "He changed my mind by how he is delving into it ... He did the small thing of using his left hand instead of his right hand, he picked up smoking to try and emulate my dad, he's let his hair grow out ... he's looking into who my dad really was, looking into his childhood, who he was raised by and around, and he is interested in talking to me about who my dad was."
His concern now rests with the script. Pryor Jr. said he hasn't seen the script, and he's curious about how his father and Jennifer Pryor, his wife and manager, will be treated.
"I'm concerned about my dad in the later years, if he will be portrayed in the proper way when you have a person like Jennifer over things,' Pryor Jr. said. She is going to portray herself as angelic when it was the opposite. She's not a nice lady...My dad's money took care of him; they didn't even live in the same home."
Nick Can pull this off if he really puts his time and energy in this. Good Luck Nick!
