Marc Anthony Producer Searching For 'Lost' Latin Grammy After Getting Justin Bieber's By Mistake

Marc Anthony's producer, Carlos Escalona Cruz, received by accident the Latin Grammy statuette that Justin Bieber won in November for his participation in the remix of "Despacito" by Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee.

According to TMZ, Cruz worked on the children's album "Marc Anthony for Babies," and was the one who informed the academy of the error when he received the wrong Grammy. On the day of the award, Bieber was not present to receive it, so the Latin music academy set out to send it, where they thought Bieber's address was.

As reported by TMZ, Cruz told them he was surprised to have received the award from the Canadian singer, and said that he contacted the Grammys immediately to clear up the confusion. According to him, the academy apologized for the mistake and asked him to send it back immediately so that it can be delivered to the legitimate owner. To date it is unknown if Bieber got Cruz's Grammy.

During the biggest night in Latin music, the big winner of the night was "Despacito" with four awards including record and song of the year. On January 12, 2017, the song was released, and the remix version featuring Justin Bieber was released on April 17, 2017.

"Despacito" became the first song primarily in Spanish to top the Billboard Hot 100 since "Macarena (Bayside Boys Remix)" by Los del Río in 1996. It ties the longest-reigning number one on the Billboard Hot 100 with 16 weeks. It topped the US Hot Latin Songs chart for 37 non-consecutive weeks, becoming the second-longest reign at number one, and is the most viewed YouTube video of all-time after surpasing its three billionth view.

This catchy poppy-reggaeton anthem was written by Erika Ender, a songwriter from Panama. Ender has been working in the industry for 25 years, and received an award for best composer at the XIII Annual Latin Grammy Awards.
