One of my collections involves fabric boxes and sewing items both old and new. These items are mostly new....except for the wooden needle cases, little scissors and ivory picture mirror. The green bird on the pin cushion was made by Deborah Hartwick and I found it at Wilton, Ct. in 2002.
This little old mirror with the picture of the man shoveling snow on the reverse side was found at Brimfield and fits perfectly in this hand made pocket sleeve which I received as a gift from Evi a few years ago......I believe she found it at the Wilton show...... a wonderful show of Artists and Craftsmen where Evi always participates and usually sells out her inventory of incredible dolls.
The fabric covered book is newly made with vintage fabric and is a sewing...needle case...
Don't you just love these tiny pin cushions?....and my penchant for all things blue is fairly obvious......
I am not sure when I acquired this antique enameled thimble......it may have been among my husband's grandmother's things.
These fabric covered boxes were collected over the years and most, if not all, were created by Jeannette McVay. The aged fabrics and stitching detail give them a charming and homey look.
......A miniature pocket in an old gold frame. I believe it was newly made from antique fabrics.....lovely faded colors....
My Mom-in-law is an accomplished quilter and has an extensive collection of quilts and old sewing items.....I hope to photograph some of her work and collections for a post soon....... so please come back and visit as it is a collection not to be missed!
